Hockey is a rough sport I’ve noticed, and so is approaching a complete stranger, but, you’ll never know what could happen unless you ask a question..any question..

And that is exactly what I did, when I ran into this man with his wife here in Las Vegas..

Where are you from? What are you doing here in town? What do you do for a living?

And so it began, a relationship was born.. and now I get to bring you another tale of hustle and hard work. This time from a man who is currently a TV personality for the San Jose Sharks and former NHL player of several seasons, Jamie Baker.

I grew up always wanting to be a professional athlete and I failed at that. Why?

Because I didn’t have the discipline and the grit, to work my butt off everyday, like Jamie discusses he had to, in order to keep his position for many years.

He talks about that being his biggest challenge while playing in the NHL.

As a player, Baker is best known for scoring the series-winning goal for the San Jose Sharks in the seventh game of the 1994 Western Conference Quarterfinals against the heavily favored Detroit Red Wings.

In 404 career games, he tallied 71 goals and 150 points and also appeared in 25 Stanley Cup playoff games.

Now he is well into the next journey of his life, broadcasting.

I think you’ll see why he’s been doing that for 12 years now, and good at it.

His personality clearly shines. I am so grateful to now call this man my friend.

I can’t wait for you to hear the inspiration of Episode 15, A Desire to Inspire with Manny Patrick.
